The heavy-duty lid locks down during cooking; an inner sealing ring keeps the steam in. It came in time. Hold the pressure wel;. It looked beautiful. The only draw back is not easy to clean and lost it's shinyness.

We bought this pressure cooker to replace a larger aluminum one we had before. It has proven to be of great use to my family. Not only is the size better since we don't have to make gallons of soup anymore, but it's so much easier to clean than the aluminum one, which took forever to clean after each use. Now it's just a little scrub and scrub the lid and the rubber seal and it's clean! This is my second presto pressure cooker in a year. I loved my first one and used it several times a week, but I didn't add enough water once, scorched the heck out of it, and it was never the same. I tried all the thrifty tricks to get out scorched ick but it didn't work. However, I liked and used this one so much I bought another one exactly like my first.

This pressure cooker is our first one and our first time to cook with one. We used one of the recipes printed in the user's manual, Herbed Chicken. The recipe calls for basil, celery, oregano, parsley, onions, and garlic, along with other readily available ingredients. Total time for the meal to be ready from food preparation, to the pressure cooker building up to pressure, with the actual cooking time was about 15 minutes.

I'm delighted with my purchase. It's made very well, nothing flimsy about this pot. Needless to say I am very happy with it. I was a little fearful of pressure cookers, but no more! I'm sure I will use it for many years to come.
